Charter Schools Shut Down After Shooting Suicide Threat

The founder of American Heritage Charter Schools said he was told by police that the threat had come from a student at a different school who said they were going to show up at Escondido Charter High on Friday, shoot up the school and then commit suicide.

School officials used email, their website, social media and automated phone messages to inform parents about the threat and let them know that school would be closed on Friday. The founder said this is the first time they have received a threat like this.

Classes have been called off at Escondido Charter High School, Heritage K-8 Charter, Heritage Digital Academy and the Learning Center.

Escondido police say they will be beefing up patrols in the area on Friday.
